• Boil water, then immerse the entire rail in hot (but not boiling) water for about 5 seconds. Carefully remove each rail from the water one by one and wait for about 2-4 seconds until it cools down. This will keep the rail warm without burning your mouth and tongue. Gently place the splint on the upper or lower dental arch, press the splint against your teeth with your tongue, remove saliva, and carefully fit the splint to your teeth and gums with your fingers. After about a minute of thorough fitting, remove the splint from your mouth and place it in cold water for at least 2 minutes. Once cooled, the splint will retain its shape and be ready for use.
